Rachel Kenny“I'm 67 and wanted to improve my general fitness and lose some weight. Emma has been programming two sessions per week for me for the last 23 weeks, and I also attend an Over 60s class once a week at the Cross Fit gym where she works. The session plan generally has a warm up of running and walking, a first round of resistance and/or pilates type exercises, and a second round which is generally longer and more strenuous. She sends the exercises by email on an easy to read document, and there are often links to click on which will take you to a YouTube video demonstrating exactly how to do it, so even if it's a new exercise, you can see what to do. I give her feedback after each session and she takes that into account for the next week. For example, I'm suffering with a bit of arthritis in my hip, and she programmes accordingly. I'm quite a disciplined person and I haven't skimped or cut any corners to make it easier. That would just be fooling yourself anyway! The sessions have been getting harder as my fitness has improved. It's been great having someone set the difficulty levels, number of reps etc. If you just go to a gym on your own I find it a bit difficult to judge how to progress. Emma's sessions have been stimulating and challenging, I've lost a stone, I feel fitter and my general physique has smartened up. She's very professional and experienced, knowledgeable in her subject, and easy to get along with. I would certainly recommend her if you're thinking of getting some individual coaching.”
